Notes: Label source: Three specimens, one cut across, Dried bulbs (From India) India Agencies, M.B.H. 10 Spitaler St. Hamburg. The specimes are apparently the bulbs of a species of Allium. probably A.macleanii Bak. This species grows in Afghanistan and Baluchis, tan and its bulbs, or similar bulbs of other species are imported into India and are known as Badshah Salep or Royal Salep. This drug can, no doubt be obtained from Bombay and some other parts of India. Bulbs of fairly similar character may be obtained, from other species, which are native in India, eg. Allium robustum, occurring in both India and Afghanistan. L.A.B.28.3.28. M142-28 Further reply suggested for Lepidoth of Rotterdam (M37-28). Specimens sent to Kew last month under the name of Salpamies (, ?) and suggested as a pseudobulb of a species of Pholidota on account of close agreement with specimens in the Kew Museum named pseudobulbs of Pholidota imbricata. Signed L.A.B. 28.3.1928. (See leter M37-28) M142.28 - Sample of dried bulbs understood to g, row in India for name. - 'We beg to forward you under separate cover a sample of dried bulbs (which we understand grow in India) of an Allium variety of which we are purchasing about 5 to 10 tons monthly, we shall feel greatly obliged if you will kindly i, nform from which districts these bulbs may be obtained' Letter India Agencies M.B.H.
