Notes: | Opuscular source: Director - Twigs of Douglas fir with deposits of sugar, sent by Miss Bostock, Canada. The deposits appear to be sugar, but I should not be able to find out whether melezitose is present. In the Experiment Station Record (USA Dept. Agric, .), vol.39, p.802, there is an abstract of a paper by Hudson and Sherwood on 'The occurrance of melezitose in a manna from the Douglas Fir'. The presence of the manna may be due to an insect.
