Notes: | Label source: Letter headed Imperial Inst. Oct.7.1911 Dear Pallimar, Here are the cones of A.cephalonica var apollonis which I promised you. They are from a tree at Ware in Hertford. Some authorities consider this to be midway between A.cephalonica and A, pectrate. It seems to be distinguished from A.cephalonica by the leaves which have acute not acuminate ? parts as in A.cephalonica. There is an interesting account of the seeds in Proceedings of the Royal Horticultural Society 1863 p.141 by Murray. Sign, ed AB Jackson |
