Notes: | Label source: Presented to B.M. by Mrs A Henley. Camborne House, Torquay, Jan. 10/11 To, A.B. Rendle Esq. Dear Sir, I am sorry that various hindrances have delayed the despatch of the Kauri Gum which I offered to the museum last summer. I am sending it, off today together withn two pieces of the semi fossilised gum which the Maoris dig up in places at a considerable distance from the tree now living. This last is valuable, as it makes a good varnish, but the fresh gum from the living trees is of no use e, xcept that it is sometimes cut and polished as an ornament. A Henley. Original in archives. |
