Notes: | Label source: Four pieces numbered 1, 1 1/2, 2 and 3. No 1 Date about BC 900. 1A BC 9002. BC 500. Letter to Curator - In having some pieces of mummy cloth and being desirous of knowing whether the material is silk, cotton or flax, I send herewith 3 samp, les of the cloth and should be most thankful for your opinion of them. I have numbered each sample No.1 and 1 1/2 of about BC 900 and No 2 BC 500 Sender GD Morce. Reported upon by Mr Boodle as follows - The four samples of mummy's cloth appear to be all m, ade from flax. In No 3 the fibre is coarse having been less beaten out than in the other samples and has probably been soaked in some greasy or waxy substance. |
