Notes: | Label source: Sample of ancient paper from Khotan, Eastern Turkestan received from Dr Hoerube of 38 Banbury Rd, Oxford. It formed part of some ancient MSS and Block Prints said to have been dug from ruins of ancient cities buried in the sands of the Tak, la Maklan Desert. From Mr Boodles exam. and comparison to various plants, the fibres of which the paper is made are undoubtedly those of a grass and agree nearest with Stipa splendens. |
