Notes: | Source: Museum Entry Book 1847-55, : Caudex 8-12 feet high, leafy only at the apex. Leaves of about36 pairs of leaflets. Spadices from among the leaves, simple or (very rarely) with one short branch near the base, thickly clad with fruits, which are ve, rmilion colour when ripe. The most remarkable character is that in the Ripe fruits the outer covering (epicarp and meso carp) splits up into 6 (rarely 7 ) sub equal pieces, resembling an expanded flower with 6 petals, and allowing the stone to fall out., Besides this there is a peculiarity of the inner spathe forming an ochre round the lower half of the rachis |
