Notes: | Label source: The tree was found at a height of 7.100 feet above sea level, and so far as could be judged the few trees that remained were evidently the remains of extensive forests. I could not obtain a photograph of the tree in question which grew to a, height of 30 to 40 feet, the trunk being in all cases extremely weatherworn and gnarled. The trees remaining were apparently confined to the extreme edges of the mountain streams which flow across the Nyika Plateau. The bush fires are probably responsibl, e for the destruction of the trees away from the river banks. The latitude in which the trees were growing is approximately 11 deg 15 mins south.
