Notes: Label source: Pink to reddish-brown, straight grained close textured, no prominent figure except for small radial flecks when quarter cut. No evidence of borer attack to sapwood. Tough, durable and will stand boring without splitting. Seasoned it can, be used for cabinet wk,joinery moulding turnery lining flooring electric light blocks, brush stocks boot heels and lasts. Logs subject to pipe and inclined to shell. Timber shrinks and warps badly unless carefully seasoned. Botanically a true Beech, it, is quite diff. from European Beech, in colour and nature of wood. Occurs as large tree reaching 150 ft and 7 ft girth, confined to lacalities at moderately high altitudes north of Hunter River, NSW, and on the Macpherson Range to S Queensland. W = 40 -, 52 lb per cu ft.
