Notes: This wood came to Kew with uncertain itdentification: 'Round section of Bahia rosewood?' The label states Bahia or Brazilian rosewood, Dalbergia nigra, Brazil. Geoff Kite found that the indicator for Dalbergia - dalnigrin - was not present in this wood., Peter Gasson's subsequent anatomical examination suggests a reasonably good anatomical match with Hymenaea sp. The colour of the wood is also a good match. See Kite, G.C., Green, P.W.C, Veitch, N.C, Groves, M.C., Gasson, P.E. & Simmonds, M.S.J. (2010)., Dalnigrin, a neoflavonoid marker for the identification of Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) in CITES enforcement. Phytochemistry 71: 1122-1131.x0Dx0Ax0Dx0A
