Notes: Lichens with examples of dyed yarn: Parmelia saxatilis (Stone Crottle, Scrottyie) - brown yarn; Parmelia omphalodes (Black Crottle) - brown yarn; Ochrolechia tartarea (syn. Lecanora tartarea) (Cudbear lichen, Corcur) - mauve yarn [to make the dye the lic, hen requires fermentation with ammonia]; Sphaerophorus globosus - orangey brown yarn; plus an additional unlabelled ball of brown wool likely dyed with Parmelia sp. (Crottle) (David Hill, pers. comm.); Two further samples of lichen without corresponding, dyed yarn samples - Usnea pr. subfloridana (syn. Usnea barbata ) (Bearded lichen) and Parmotrema perlatum. The latter would produce a fawn colour (David Hill, pers. comm.). These samples were likely to be used by Robin Hill for demonstration purposes.x0Dx0A
