Bark pale greenish grey with shallow vertical fissures, inner bark cinnamon brown, exuding greenish sap which rapidly discolours to strong reddish brown. leaves recently flushed, bright glossy mid green and immature. Flowers on loosely flowered pend, ulous racemes making a spectacular show; strongly scented of Philadelphous and attracting large numbers of small bees.
