Notes: Collecting notes: Mexico, Yucatan, highway 281 heading north from Dzilam González to Dzilam de Bravo. Due north of Izamal.x0Dx0Ax0Dx0ARemnant thorn scrub with Caesalpinia yucatanensis, C. gaumeri, Prosopis glanduloso, Leucaena leucocephala, Pithecellobium sp. and, Diphysa sp.x0Dx0Ax0Dx0AMultiple-stemmed tree to 6m, main trunks 6cm diam. Bark greyish brown, shallowly vertically fissured into papery flakes. Spine-tipped woody protuberances on main trunks. Younger branchlets with a few spines and a deep reddish brown papery, bark - this flaking away to reveal a reddish under bark. Leaflets semi-coriaceous, discolourous, deep glossy bottle-green above, paler and dull below. Calyx tube green, sepals pale lemon yellow, reflexed except for lower cucullate one which clasps stamens, . Petals lemon yellow, 'standard' with a network of orangish red veins on inner face. Filaments creamish, anthers orangish brown, stigma vivid green.
