Memo - The earth sugar root of the Tamils, under the above name Mr David Hooper describes (Pharm Journ Jan 7th 1893 p 548) A medicinal root known in the Indian Bazaars as 'Poomichacarei Kalung' which he, says has recently been identified by Mr MA Lawson as Maerua accuaria, Hook.f. Tree fruits are said by Roxburgh to be boiled and eaten by the natives. As there are no samples of either roots or fruits of this plant in the Museum it is desirable that such, should be obtained from India JRJ.
