Notes: Label source: 'Vine known in Trinidad as Balbac and used as a fish poison. The method of employing it is to cut a number of pieces of the stem, say about 1 inch long, macerate the bark by bruising it and simply put the pieces into the water. After a time, the fish come to the surface and can easily be caught. The water turns black but the fish are edible'. (extracted from letter from RC Marshall; Conservator of Forests Trinidad of 24.11.30)
