In the Mauritius the leaves and seeds of this plant are used for gonorrhoea and allied diseases and the seeds are powdered and mixed with pepper and used as a febrifuge. The Mauritius name is Sogar gota (see Baker 'Fl. Mauritius & Seyshelles p.88), and the French Cadoque (Bouton, 'Fl Med de Maurice' p43). This author appears to have followed Bojer in confounding this species C.bonduc, which has yellow seeds. The dose used in Madagascar for promoting the explusion of the placenta is the kernel of on, e seed, scraped and drunk in water.
