Notes: Label source: The fruit consists of a pair of mericarps about 1/4 of an inch long, which together form an elongated oblong body crowned by the stylopodium and calycinal teeth; each mericarp has five very prominent convoluted ridges. The margins of the se, ed are curved inwards, so that a transverse section showsa horse shoe shaped object, surrounded by about 40 vitae, full of yellowish brown essential oil. The taste is at first somewhat like anise, but afterwards bitter. It is used by the Hakeems as a stim, ulant and carminative; it is also said to promote the explusion of the foetus. Faturasaliyun is an Arabic corruption of Petroselinum; it is still further corrupted by the Bombay druggists into Phuttersalum.
