| Notes: | Label source: Oleum expressum. Oleum Gynocardiae. Gynocardia or Chaclmoogra Oil (1,4) - The fatty oil expressed from the seeds of Gynocardia odorata, R Brown (N.O. Bixaceae) or G. pralnii, Desportes. Alterative and emetic. Contains albuminoids, palmitic,, and gynocardic acids, also the glycorides of cocinic, hypogaeic, palmitic and gynocardic acids. The acrid taste and the reaction with sulphuric acid - a reddish -brown colouration changing to green - are due to gynocardic acid. Dose 5 to 10 minims gradua, lly increased to 0.5 to 1 fl drachm. | ||||
