They are black and angular, without odour, and have only a very slight alliaceous taste. In China they are used for various fluxes and for haemorrhages. In 'Loureiro Fl. Cochin Chinensis' the term kieu is applied to three species, A.t, riquetrum L., A. odorum L. and A. angulosum L.
