| Notes: | Label source: A reddish coloured hard, heavy, strong, close-textured, yet fissle timber with large medullary rays. The timber is very durable, its chief use being for split roofing shingles. It is suitable for fancy turnery, heavy cabinet work, flooring,, inlay, walking sticks etc. Requires careful seasoning to avoid checking along the rays. It can be sliced to produce a very attractive veneer. The wood burns with a grest heat, which makes it a favourite firewood for baker's ovens. Occurs as a rather smal, l tree, which averages about 50 ft high and 4 ft girth, fairly plentiful in the coastal ranges and districts of New South Wales and Queensland. H = Very Hard. W = 57 to 67 lb per cubic ft. | ||||
